Potential Lock Haven Area YMCA Employee,

Thank you for your interest in pursuing an employment position at the Lock Haven Area YMCA.  Whether it is a position in child care, aquatics, health & fitness, membership service desk or for youth activities, every position is important as the YMCA serves our community.

The Lock Haven Area YMCA Mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. We believe that accomplishing our Mission is directly related to the employees and volunteers who have contact with YMCA Members, program participants and residents who use the YMCA facilities.

The YMCA wants to be able to offer the most safe and secure environment as many youth, adults, seniors and families use the YMCA. Hired employees will be those who posses the skills and qualities necessary to provide this safe environment, but also represent the YMCA in a positive manner in the community.

Many safeguards and policies have been installed and implemented that all new and current employees should be familiar with as we strive to offer a safe facility for our members, youth and community. Some of these policies include:

All new employees are expected to complete the hiring process with YMCA Administrative Assistant, Pam Bowes.  All forms, clearances, paperwork and documentation must be received prior to working.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing must be completed for all new employees hired after January 1st, 2008. An appointment will be made for new employees to complete a pre-employment screening as part of the hiring process.

Random drug testing will occur at the YMCA throughout the year for all employees on the payroll list.  Failure to complete a random screening, if you are randomly selected, will result in immediate termination as per the Drug Testing Policy at the Lock Haven Area YMCA.

The safeguards listed above have been implemented as the Lock Haven Area YMCA strives to hire and retain reliable, responsible and professional employees to ensure a safe environment for our members, youth and program participants.

The Lock Haven Area YMCA truly believes that hiring staff that obtain the four core values of the YMCA – Caring, Respect, Responsibility & Honesty – is directly related to satisfied members, happy program participants and a safe working environment.  Please complete the attached employment application for eligibility of an open position.

Sincerely,

Jerry Clark, CEO
Lock Haven Area YMCA
