The Lock Haven Area YMCA offers a wide range of swimming lessons, classes, and aquatics programs for all ages. Membership at the YMCA includes use of the pool during open swimming and lap swimming times at no additional cost.
Open to all youth 5-18 years of age who are able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) with a recognizable swimming stroke. Our program is designed to teach the fundamentals and advanced levels of competitive swimming. We strive to develop a sense of team spirit, sportsmanship, fair play, and fitness habits that will last a lifetime. The Lock Haven YMCA Loggerheads season runs from October to March.
ADULT AQUATICS GROUP FITNESS
We offer a variety of classes to accommodate your fitness needs, from easing arthritis and fibromyalgia pain to full-body workouts.
Hydro Mix: T/Th 2 p.m.
A great head-to-toe pool class that will challenge all fitness levels while being easy on the joints. Resistance equipment is used to increase intensity. No swimming ability is required.
Aquasize: M/W 7 p.m.
This high-intensity class combines a cardiovascular and muscle workout using water resistance to build strength and tone muscles. Participants will burn major calories with this challenging workout.
Twinges in the Hinges (traditional): M/T/Th 9 a.m.
If you are looking for a gentle, low-impact workout or you suffer from arthritis pain, an injury, or soreness from fibromyalgia, this class is for you! These pool workouts are developed to help you build cardiovascular and muscle endurance while stretching the muscles and working the joints.
Twinges in the Hinges (dynamic): M/W/F 1 p.m.
This class applies the same principles as the traditional Twinges class but with a workout that changes in nearly every class. The dynamic class is higher in intensity than the traditional class but will feel like a lower intensity water aerobics class.
